TOP TEN TUESDAY – Ten Things On MY Reading Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is:

Ten Things On MY Reading Wishlist

There are so many things I want to see on my reading wishlist, lets’ get started….

1) more books by my favorite authors

I have a couple of authors that I ADORE and I would love to read MORE by them…

Ellen O’Connell

C.S. Pacat

R. Lee Smith

Mariana Zapata

R.K. Lilley

Madeline Sheehan

2) more unique plots

I’m getting soooo tired of always reading plots that have been done again and again. Sometimes a simple character driven plot is best. Or a plot twist that nobody saw coming. Those are the books that are really noteworthy. I rave/talk about them non-stop. They stay with you for much longer than any other books. And I admire the author that has the nerve and the balls to push the envelope. 😀

3) books  with fantastic and unique covers

I wish romance author would leave the abs and naked chests behind and give their cover designers a bit more freedom and creativity. I’m so jealous of all the amazing YA covers out there. Those covers are UNIQUE and CREATIVE!!! Maybe we need an award for book covers, that would give authors a reason to think outside the box. 😀

4) more fantasy

I love fantasy books, but I might be a bit more picky than I thought. Because only a few authors/books will end up on my tbr list. And just a handful are outstanding in my opinion. I think the issue lies with the world building. Not every author knows how to build spellbinding worlds.

5) a new book revolution

Even so I hated 50 Shades, and Twilight wasn’t that much better, those two series started their own book revolutions. I NEED something NEW. A new genre or an idea that shakes up the status quo. It’s getting boring.

6) more 5 star worthy books

That might be purely a me-problem. I rarely give out 5 stars. I acknowledge that  my star rating could be considered harsh. For me a  5 star book needs to WOW me and want me to read it again. Sadly those books are rare.

7) QUIRKY characters

I wish there were more characters like CLETUS.

8) books that make me happy

I need more unputdownable books. The ones that make me happy. Make me feel good. Books I’ll finish in one sitting because they are that GOOD!!! I definitely need more of those. 😀

9) well researched books

Books I can learn from. Some authors go the extra mile and research a topic in such a detailed manner that afterwards I have the feeling I learned something new. Nora Roberts is such an author. I love how much research she puts into her novels.

10) small towns

Don’t know why I love them so much. I come from a small town myself and I hated it there, but reading about small towns in rural America does it for me. 😀

About corina

I’m a blogger, photographer, and unapologetic book addict. I love strong female characters, major jerks, and Happily Ever Afters.

  1. Yes! More unique plots! But I realize it’s difficult to come up with something new. I just want writers to stop writing to the trends!

Also, yes! YA covers are AMAZING! Why can’t NA, contemporary etc… have more unique covers??

    Great post!

  2. Oh, I love small town settings! Especially when the author nails the quirkiness in them. Like Alice Clayton’s Hudson Valley. It’s adorable!

I also love your #3, unique covers for romance. I love romance, but I usually really hate the covers. I’d love to see better images on a romance novel.

    1. The quirkiness does it for me 👍🏼👍🏼 and please let’s change those covers!! I might have to start a petition.;-)
