Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017

HUGE thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for this meme.

Here are our Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017!!!!!

This is not an easy feat at all. To comprise all of our books of 2017 into a list of 10 of our most favorite books was almost torturous. But guess what we whittled it down to 10 “each” – color me surprise when I checked the list and felt pretty good about it.

Gifts (The Killers #3)

This book had everything a romance junkie like I looks for in a good romance novel. I adored her characters, and the story spoke to me from the very first chapter. If you love KA – you’ll love GIFTS. Brynne Asher wrote two AMAZING characters that had me glued to the pages, and I didn’t want the book to end. That’s an amazing feeling right there.

I was head over heels in love with Asa. He was in charge, protective, deliciously alpha, but also extremely kind and loving. Honestly, there isn’t a guy out there that could be more perfect than him – in a non-perfect way if that makes any sense.

Because who really wants a guy that is perfect, right?

Lovers Lik Us (Like Us #2)

Lovers Like Us was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!

I am a HUGE fan of Krista and Becca Ritchie.

One of the biggest reasons has always been that their series were unique. The Addicted Series as well as the Calloway Sisters are true series. I have NEVER read anything like this before. With each book Krista and Becca Ritchie continue a story arc that includes every single character of the cast. From the very beginning they included everyone, all the siblings, boyfriends and love interests. And whenever I read a book I felt like I’m part of this HUGE family, and over the years and many books I became so invested in this story and everyone’s journey.

The Hate U Give

This book deserved ALL THE STARS and should be on the mandatory reading list of every middle school and high school. The story is on point, current, chilling, heartbreaking and eye opening for a white European girl like me.

It’s a MUST READ for everyone!!!

This review will be mostly gushing and rambling – I’m still incredibly touched by the book and the importance of the message. And the striking difference of their life to mine was SHOCKING.

Raw and authentic, The Hate U Give frightened me to my bones. I never encountered anything like the author depicts, and can’t even imagine how it must have been growing up in such neighborhoods or feeling such horrifying fear towards police.

The Learning Hours (How to Date a Douchebag #3)

This book was something SPECIAL!!!!

So special that it honestly threw me for a loop. The Learning Hours was so much more than I could have ever hoped for. Sara Ney made the unthinkable happen – she turned my life upside down.

And I’m not blowing smoke here.

You guys have no idea what’s coming!!!

If you think you know what to expect – think again. This is not your regular college romance. I’m still blown away by these two characters that were so unique and nothing as I thought they would be. OMGthis is soooo hard!!!! Not blabbing my mouth and accidentally revealing the BIGGEST COOLEST TWIST ever.

Buckle in, this book was full of EMOTIONS!!!!

It doesn’t happen often that I read a book that delivers such a PUNCH exactly where it counts. I was HOOKED and I didn’t’ want to put it down – not one second. It was UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!!

This book was filled with raw emotions – disappointment, rejection, helplessness, hope, love, redemption, happiness. GHOSTED was a second chance love-story that will stay with me forever. But most of all, this book was character driven, from a superb supporting cast to the BEST female lead and a lovable and swoony superhero.

Royally Endowed (Royally #3)

Without any doubt Royally Endowed (Royally #3) by Emma Chase was my FAVORITE of all. Let there be no doubt that I loved and enjoyed them all, but Royally Endowed was the most beautiful love-story penned by Emma Chase yet.

I absolutely adored the slow build up between Logan and Ellie, it gave their love story believability and depth that would have otherwise been not achieved. Their relationship evolved over years, and grew into a deeply affecting and emotional storyline. SWOON!!

Something So Perfect (Something So #2)

SEXY CAVEMAN!!! That’s all I’m saying!!!

Buckle up and get ready for a Matthew Grant!!

My all time favorite sports romance is by far ice hockey!! Those guys are HOT! All in. Not afraid to throw down the glove and get down and dirty with opponents and they usually are as bossy and forward outside the rink as they are on the ice – and I’m loving it!!!

Illegal Contact (The Barons #1)

It’s so rare to find a book that hits me right were it counts.

There is this elusive unicorn in the book world, a book that is perfectly balanced, emotionally grabbing, funny and flirty, with genuine and likable characters, AND it makes me want to read it again, and again, and again.

Heart-meltingly beautiful, utterly satisfying and total perfection.

Fallen Crest Forever (Fallen Crest High #7)

I still can’t believe that this series is over. I’m sad but OMG – Tijan wrote the most fabulous conclusion EVER. For me Fallen Crest Forever was the BEST book in the entire series.

It’s hard to put all my thoughts into concise sentences – I’m partly overwhelmed by sadness but also jubilant about the entire book.

We finally came full circle.

There were so many twists, small and bigger once that kept me gasping all throughout the book. Plot twists that I did NOT see coming but that made perfect sense to me.

I really felt that Fallen Crest Forever was masterfully plotted and executed.

Etched in Bone (The Others #5)

Honestly, I would recommend this series to ANYONE!! That’s how good it is.

This series has occupied me now for a couple months. I started the first book late last year, which turned out fortunate because the last book, book #5 was released last week. Because of that I was able to read the entire series (5 books in all) in a couple of months and didn’t have to spread it out over 5 years.

Although, now I’m a devoted Anne Bishop fan and will have to wait like everyone else for her next book – sigh!

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2)

I’m totally obsessed and enthralled by this series!! If I could kick my own ass for waiting so long to read it, I would. I am beyond in love with the this book! So much so, I stewed over writing this review for days and just decided to gush about how much I loved the book rather than try to write something as epic as the series and fail miserably.

The Darkest Sunrise (The Darkest Sunrise #1)

The Darkest Sunrise was meticulously planned and brilliantly executed. The characters and constructs are brilliantly rendered. It’s quite possibly the best book I’ve read all year! In a word – Amazing!

Aly Martinez is like a puppet master who pulls all my emotional strings. I feel so deeply for these characters. Raw, aching emotions spilled out against my will. I’m in tears writing this review. Prepare yourselves folks! Stock up on Kleenex, wine, and have a quiet place to read because you won’t be able to put this one down until the last page is done!

American King (New Camelot Trilogy #3)

This book has destroyed me in the most exceptional way! Because it’s just that…EXCEPTIONAL! Omg, I thought the wait would kill me, but it was so worth it!

First and foremost, this is more of a testimonial than a “book review”. In case you don’t read my long gushy post let me state this upfront…I love this book—every single page. Every single word.

You should buy it RIGHT NOW! I can’t recommend it enough.

Sin With Me (Bad Habit #3)

This is absolute kindle crack! My favorite of the series! It’s nearly perfect. This is my absolute favorite book of the series. Wanna know why? Brody!! He’s sexy, sweet, funny, charming, witty, and a bit of a nutter. I’m adding him to my list of BBFs!

Sugar & Gold (Dreamcatcher #2)

I have no idea what I did to get so lucky to Beta Read this beauty, but I’ll do it over and over when I figure it out.  I loved every word!!  It’s so addictive. When you stay up all night to read chapters and beg the author for more as soon as you finish one!!

The story is captivating, vibrant, and sexy!  Don’t worry, it’s classic Emma so you will definitely feel all the feels.   It’s the story of two lonely souls finding love and solace in each other, but it’s so much.  It’s an experience.

Dirty Filthy Rich Love (Dirty Duet #2)

Laurelin Paige is not messing around! Sabrina and Donovan brought that fire with Dirty Filthy Rich Love! I’m in book boyfriend heaven right now! It’s been days since I finished this book and I’m still thinking about it. IT WAS THAT GOOD!!! Utter perfection!

Cuffed (Everyday Heroes #1)

K. Bromberg soars! Cuffed is everything I ever wanted in an emotional romance novel. It’s the perfect combination of steam and gut-wrenching emotional feels. Cuffed destroyed me in the best possible way. K. Bromberg continues to impress and takes emotional but sexy romance to the next level in the story of love, trust, and perseverance

TAGS: Emotional | Alpha Male  | Man in Uniform

Ruckus (Sinners of Saint #2)

LJ Shen slays!! I knew I’d love it, but not this much. I’m in book hangover hell. I want more Hotholes!!

I pretty much loved everything about this book. The history and story within the story – Dean and Rosie share a history that I never anticipated. Catching up with these two from high school through present day is very eye-opening and so meaningful to the story.

The Affiliate (Ascension #1)

If you were to start with a little bit of The Selection, add in a smidge of ACOTAR, then sprinkle in a bit of The Golden Dynasty you’d have something that’s truly amazing! That’s kinda how this book reads! Don’t get me wrong, it’s completely fresh and unique. However, it feels like an amalgamation of everything I love about the YA genre with a hint of romance. I adored everything about it!

There’s a lot going on here. The story is multi-layered and unbelievably AMAZING! K.A. Linde totally owned me today! I couldn’t put it down. I literally sat on the sofa smiling to myself all day, while reading this amazing book. I looked like a crazy person, but didn’t care at all!

Beautiful cover, captivating story, and brilliant writing. That sums up this book in a nutshell. It’s utterly brilliant. Kylie Scott exceeds expectations again!

All the feels were felt! TRUST ME! (pun intended) I simultaneously laughed and cried through much of the novel. That’s the brilliance of reading a novel by an amazing storyteller. The book is so well written, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters. You feel the experiences. You root for them. Hurt for them. You become completely engaged in the story.

  1. What an amazing list! I see a few that I need to add to my TBR asap!! I don’t know how you were able to narrow your list down. I’m looking at a Top 20 right now….

    1. 😉 I’m a picky reader – I rarely give out 5 stars. So going by just my 5 Star books – the choices were already slim. Choosing books that had an impact on me – I could have added a few more. I’m glad you have a few to add to your tbr.

  2. Love seeing your best of the year picks! So many good ones. I’m so excited for Lovers Like Us. I plan on picking it up SOON. I just adore Krista and Becca Ritchie. I’ve read Royally Screwed but haven’t completed the series yet. Excited to see that you consider book three the best! Love seeing Etched in Bone included! I’m a big fan of The Others series. ACOMAF… loved it!!! All three books are so, so good, but ACOMAF remains my favorite. Sugar & Gold was ah-mazing. I was so moved by that one. And Trust by Kylie Scott. Love it! I hope she does more YA because Trust was fantastic.

    1. Tanya Lovers Like Us was even better than book 1 – I can’t wait to read Alpha (book 3). Did you see their announcement for 2018? I hope you have a blast reading Royally Endowed – Logan will sweep you off your feet. So happy to have a fellow Others fan in you – I can’t wait to read her newest book – a brand new series to fan girl over. Trust was fantastic as well – it didn’t fit on my list but I’m glad TJ mentioned it. Be both have it 5 Stars – I hope she’ll continue writing YA.

  3. There are so many good books on this list, I don’t even know where to start commenting!!! I especially loved How to Date a Douchebag #3. I just read that book recently and it’s one of my faves now!

    1. Loved Douchebag #3 the most as well. I enjoyed the entire gender reversal – it threw me for a loop.;-) 2017 was a good year!! I can’t wait for 2018 to be as great – book related.

    1. Lol – I’m so happy to hear that. Talia, GIFTS was soooo good!!! It has a little feel of KA, an alpha male, a strong woman and baby goats 😍😍😍😍 try it!!! I got it from KU if you are subscribed grab it.

  4. I just started listening to Ghosted today. Loving it so far. Trusted was really good, and ACOMAF is my fave in the series. It was such an empowering book for me.

    1. GHOSTED was fantastic! I hope the audiobook reflects that. I absolutely adored TRUST – it felt so real, especially because of the characters. Can’t wait for her to write another YA.

    1. Oh, I know what you mean… but I often go through older BEST OF lists. In the end it doesn’t matter when they’ve been published just that I might love them 😁
