Top Five Wednesday – Books to Get You Out of a Reading Slump

Top 5 Wednesday | #T5W is a meme on Goodreads by Sam from ThoughtsOnThomes.

This weeks theme is all about getting out of a reading slump.

Winter is a hard season for a lot of people and many of us are slumpy. Let’s talk about some books that are great for getting you out of a slump!

I thought this weeks theme was a fabulous topic. I’ve been in a reading slump a time or two – ok, let’s be honest, at least ONCE a month.:D

I do have a shelf with my favorite books that are my to-go-to novels for hard times, when everything else just doesn’t work. And today I’m sharing books that helped me every time!!!

I started out with the idea of just 5 books, but who was I KIDDING??? No way could I stop at 5 books, so I lumped them together into 5 groups. 😀

Here we go…..

The first three books will be counted as ONE – since they are part of a trilogy and can NOT be read by themselves – you hear me!!! 😀

Captive Prince TRILOGY
by C.S. Pacat

This series has been UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME – 6 STARS!!!! I had such a hangover afterwards I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think there is anything out there that can compete with theses books, not even HIM and US by my favorite author Sarina Bowen.

The next two books are from the same author, so I’ll lump them together and mention the author because she deserves a HUGE shoutout!!!!!

Mariana Zapata

I can’t get enough of her books and The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and Wait for It always bring me back to sanity and out of any slump I could have gotten in. Mariana Zapata writes the BEST slow burn but also characters that are just so relatable and authentic.

The next books are my laugh out loud novels. Every girl needs a few of those.:D

Bear Meets Girl (Pride #7) by Shelly Laurenston

Please don’t let the cheesy cover prevent you from picking up this novel. It was awesome!!! Shelly Laurenston writes the most awesome and humorously books that have me cracking up with every page. She has the unique skill to give her shifters animal traits that makes them so much more interesting. In this book the male character is a polar bear – taciturn, scowling, wanting to be left in peace – and OMG is he hilarious when the heroine, a big cat, just doesn’t get the message – hilarity ensues!!!!

Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott

Mal Ericson is one of the funniest characters that I have ever had the pleasure reading about and Mal and Anne are by far the most unique couple in the entire Stage Dive series.

The upcoming books are about swoony heroes that every girl needs in their life.

Wait for Me (Against All Odds #1) by Elisabeth Naughton

This book grips me every time I read it. The idea of loosing memory, and not remembering family and relatives is scary as hell. And Ryan, the hero, makes me swoon every single time I reread this book. Loved it the first time and every time since then.

When Snow Falls (Whiskey Creek #2) by Brenda Novak

I love a bad boy, and Dylan Amos is perfect in every way. Dylan drives a motorcycle, wears leather jackets, has a bad reputation, and smokes, and is responsible for an entire brood of bad boy brothers – HOLY MOLY. He does it for me.:D

Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers #1) by Claudia Connor

I have a soft spot for novels about single mothers with a gang of little kids. And on top the  gorgeous hunk of a soldier that fits perfectly into their family. THIS is a HEA I wouldn’t say no to.

The Search by Nora Roberts

OMG how much I love this book. A mischievous PUPPY!!!! That’s all I can say. And a hunky but taciturn carpenter falling in love with a feisty dog trainer. BEST combination EVER!!!

And of course I can’t forget my favorite college novels that are just the perfect books for those I-don’t-know-what-to-read days.

The Year We Fell Down (The Ivy Years #1)
by Sarina Bowen

This book had an unbelievably sweet and unique plot line that had me hooked as soon as I read the blurb and made me a life-long Sarina Bowen reader.

The Deal (Off-Campus #1)
by Elle Kennedy

How can I say no to a swoony college bad boy????? I loved the bickering and bantering Garrett and Hannah had going on. And the chemistry between them was what kept me turning pages like crazy.

Broken and Screwed 2 (Broken and Screwed #2) by Tijan

OMG how much I adore this book – drama, drama, drama – but it still hooks me every time I read it.

Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

One of my NUMBER 1 books of all time – the combination of soccer, sex, soccer, parties, drama, more sex, hot soccer players, drama – is unputdownable.

Now, how about you?

    1. so very true!!! I don’t have time to do every meme each week, so I choose and pick the topics that are the most interesting to me:D This week I had two memes – would have loved to space them out, but oh well 😀
