THRIVE – Aly Martinez – Blog Tour

When I was nineteen years old, I was faced with a choice that changed my life.

Keep the safety of what I already knew or risk losing everything with the young, hotheaded soldier who stole my heart.

I chose the wrong man, and for seventeen years, I paid in tears, blood, and shattered dreams for that decision.

Now, there’s a man in my house, holding a gun to my head on the order of my ex-husband—given from his prison cell.

That hotheaded soldier I was too afraid to choose? He’s now a six-foot-three wall of muscle who works at the country’s most premier bodyguard agency. I’ve always wanted him, but now, I’ve never needed him more.

It’s the call I’m terrified to make.

I’m sure he still hates me… Even though I’ve never stopped loving him.

The one thing out of many that Aly Martinez excels at is emotional and explosive storytelling. THRIVE, a second chance novel, had that hands down covered. It was a different emotional rollercoaster from her last duet, but nevertheless it was packed with more than one powerful punch because of the couples history and their explosive attraction.

17 years ago, Jeremy and Mira were young, inexperienced, impulsively and hotheaded. Their rash decisions still hounded them years later. I ached for them, but I also thought they deserved some of the heart-ache. It was such an emotional mess. They were a MESS.

And unfortunately I can’t really say they weren’t still a mess 17 years later.

But what I can say is that it was quite entertaining to watch Jermey and Mira reunite. There was really no shortcomings in regards to explosive fireworks and emotional and heart-breaking confessions. Their connection was bone deep, but also fiery, and passionate. Jeremy was the match to Mira’s fuse – unstoppable combustion whenever they shared the same air.

It didn’t help that Jermey was uber protective of her and she had an independent streak a mile wide. They clicked, but they also fought like cat and dog. Like I said, it made for explosive reading times.

The author wrote two characters that were as distinctively memorable as they were giving me a headache. The back and forth was brilliantly written, the dialogues funny, witty, and diabolically entertaining. The plot was compelling, and action pact. I truly didn’t know when it was safe to take a breath. And the author’s signature twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat.

I did have some difficulty keeping all the members of the Guardian Protection Agency straight. As well as remembering what happened in book one – which I read last February – I know not that long ago, but what can I say – I’m getting old. But all in all THRIVE was highly entertaining, and it had a cast that’s just waiting to be written about

About Aly Martinez:

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
