Standalone Sunday – After The Night by Linda Howard

Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by  Megan @ :
. On Standalone Sunday I feature a standalone book (not part of a series) that I love or would recommend!

So far my Standalone Sunday’s have mostly featured 5 star books – I might have to turn this meme into

Corina’s 5 Stars Sundays

On my third Standalone Sunday I’m featuring…

After The Night

ebook, 352 pages

Published November 24th 2009 by Pocket Books
(first published December 1st 1995)

This book is a MUST for every romance reader!!!

The sexual tension is off the charts in this book. I recommended it to my friend and she is still annoyed with because it spoiled her for all the other books that came afterwards. It was her first Linda Howard and unequivocally the BEST!

I have three all time favorites by Linda Howard.

1. After The Night

2. Mr. Perfect

3. Open Season

What made After The Night so special was the temptation of the forbidden, the smoldering heat of the South, the secrets, the drama, the southern dynasties that have so many skeleton in their closets they are never boring.

The sexual tension crackled.

It held me captive. Words like tempestuous and volatile come to mind. Pages were literally smoldering whenever the main characters were in close proximity.

I could go on and on!!

here is the BLURB

FAITH DEVLIN: A poor, outcast child in Prescott, Louisiana, she’d always adored the town’s golden boy from afar. But he called her white trash that sultry Southern night when his rich, respected father disappeared, along with her pretty Mom. Now Faith wanted to hate Gray Rouillard…not to feel a powerful surge of desire. But she couldn’t quench her passion, any more than she could hide the truth about the past she had waited so long to unravel.

GRAY ROUILLARD: Even when he raised hell, he did it with style. Reckless, charming, and backed by Rouillard money, Gray controlled the town of Prescott — and Devlin was a name he never wanted to hear again. But when he gazed at Faith Devlin, all he saw was a swirl of tangled sheets and her silken flesh beneath him. To care for her was impossible, unthinkable…because Gray Rouillard planned to use all his power to ruin her.
