Silence Fallen – Patricia Briggs

Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson #10) by Patricia Briggs started with a B A N G !!! The blurb already prepared me for what was coming, but still – WOW!!!

I don’t usually like books that rip the main couple apart for the majority of the book. I want them together  – not apart. But it worked for Silence Fallen. I didn’t feel like something was missing or that it should have been any different – it felt RIGHT.

I thought Patricia Briggs did an amazing job giving both parties the right amount of book pages. The chapters alternated between Adam and the search and rescue party and Mercy the kidnapped “victim”. And I thought it was adorable how everyone was convinced that everyone, but especially Prague was better off if Mercy would not been given the opportunity to be set loose – Mercy a whirlwind of destruction. 😀

Feisty and quick thinking Mercy was on her own in Europe after a successful kidnapping attempt that ended up in Italy. Her pack connection was stretched thin when she woke up and she was pretty much on her own at that point, in  a strange country, not knowing who was foe and friend. But for all of that, Mercy didn’t disappoint. She was as usually quick on her feet/paws, resourceful and as usual a magnet for trouble.

Silence Fallen was the best example of a master storyteller.

It had a plot that was as captivating and intriguing, wonderful cast members, a beautiful European city as location, and wide ranging and complicated vampire politics that were as fascinating as they were complex.

The machinations that were going on were incredibly intricate. I had to reread sections to get all of it – and it made me admire Patricia Briggs even more.

Next to Adam and Mercy I came to care for Marsilia, Mistress of the Trilogy-Cities Seethe the most. She turned out to be a fascinating character, and not as evil as I had believed. She was quite knowledgeable and very much attuned to what was going on – which was very eye opening for sure.

Perfect surprise – Coyote had a very small part in this book – I have to admit I have a weakness for him.;D

I also thought that the author used a very diverse group of participants in this book, new faces, a chance to meet a few different characters. Even so I loved the new cast members, I did miss some of the old crew, and hope I’ll meet them again in the next book.

Reading one of her books has always been a pleasure of mine, but now it’s like coming home to friends and families. Her books are a highlight of my year and I wouldn’t want to miss them for the world. Because I can never go wrong with a Patricia Brigg’s novel!!!

  1. I couldn’t agree more, I especially enjoyed Silence Fallen it reminded of one of the early Mercy Thompson books when it was always Mercy getting herself out of trouble.

  2. I usually don’t like books that are separated either, but you’re right. Patricia Briggs nailed it though. I loved every second of the story.
