Meet the Author:

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love.

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demandingmember of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Sawyer Bennett has been one of the most versatile authors to date.

I’m currently reading THREE different series by her. The Cold Fury Hockey SeriesThe Wicked Horse Vegas Series, and the Sex and Sweet Tea Series by her alter ego Juliette Poe. All three series are vastly different from each other. Not only in topic but also in writing.

I’m amazed that one author can have so many unique voices.

While reading Lucas I came to the realization that I love her sweeter and funnier alter ego more. I adore Juliette Poe‘s writing and The Wicked Horse series is super hot and sexy – and both of these series are wonderfully entertaining. Whereas the more intense and emotional Cold Fury series has sadly run its course.

If I had to put a finger on exactly what bothered me, I would have to pick the back and forth between Lucas and Stephanie as the source of my discontent. The emotional pull and push. The drama. And even though I admire the author for writing the heroine in such a way that she stood out because of her unique upbringing, her cool demeanor and closed off emotions were a bit off putting for me.

Lucas didn’t have it easy to break through Stephanie’s walls, and honestly I had the same problem. I couldn’t connect with her at all. Lucas was such an opposite in so many ways. I’m surprised about how much he was attracted to her. Because they did have an INSANE amount of attraction and sexual hunger towards each other – definitely plenty of hot sex all around.

Even though the characters clicked, they didn’t for me. I lost interest around 50% and it got worse the longer I kept reading.

So, I KNOW this is an entirely personal opinion, and it has nothing to do with the author’s writing or the storyline. It was ME that wasn’t able to connect with the characters. I’m pretty sure I’ll be in the minority here and that’s ok with me. Like I said, I love and continue reading two of her other series, and will just skip The Cold Fury in the future.
