How to Walk Away – Katherine Center

I’m the first to admit that I have a hard time picking up new to me authors. But boy, was I glad when I followed a personal recommendation and started How to Walk Away by Katherine Center. Without reading the blurb, I was immediately pulled into a story that was fascinating, touching and incredibly emotional.

First and foremost, this author can WRITE!!!

WOW!! I was blown away by her style. Katherine Center’s writing sucked me in from the very beginning. I literally felt I was part of the story. Experiencing the characters journey and feeling her heartache was convincing and a very unique phenomenon. Honestly, I felt like I was in Margaret Jacobsen’s body and experienced everything firsthand. Like I said, I was wowed!

I loved everything about this book. The emotional plot, the powerful but also uplifting message, and the heartbreakingly raw journey that Margaret Jacobsen was forced to start on. How to Walk Away had a perfectly executed plot, that primed with wonderfully vibrant and fascinating characters. The author’s witty dialogues had me laughing out loud. And the unique storyline was compellingly realistic, emotional, and raw at times.

I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, just enough to say, that the romance was utterly satisfying. The characters were all very distinctive and their interactions engaging and relatable. Of course I had my favorite in Margaret’s sister Kitty. The siblings made me chuckle constantly. Their back and forth was hilarious, and a real joy. All in all, this book was refreshingly different – way more than I could have hoped for.

To sum it all up, I can say with absolute certainty that I will be reading more by this author. Her writing style alone has me wanting more. And I’m super grateful that I picked up this book. I would have missed out on an amazing and incredibly well written story. How to Walk Away is a novel I won’t forgot anytime soon, and Katherine Center is an author I’m looking forward to reading again.

If you liked Me Before You by Jojo Mojes you’ll love this book.

Margaret Jacobsen has a bright future ahead of her: a fiancé she adores, her dream job, and the promise of a picture-perfect life just around the corner. Then, suddenly, on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life, everything she worked for is taken away in one tumultuous moment.

In the hospital and forced to face the possibility that nothing will ever be the same again, Margaret must figure out how to move forward on her own terms while facing long-held family secrets, devastating heartbreak, and the idea that love might find her in the last place she would ever expect.

How to Walk Away is Katherine Center at her very best: an utterly charming, hopeful, and romantic novel that will capture reader’s hearts with every page.
