Book Review – The Hot One (One Love) by Lauren Blakely

This was such a gorgeous, SWOOOOOOOOONY book!

Ever notice that sometimes a guy will do something really stupid, like let the love of his life slip through his fingers?

Yeah. I’m that guy. But the moment I run into the woman I once loved madly, I’ve got one goal and one goal only—a second chance. The plan? Go big or go home.

Fine, at first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend’s place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her heart again. But trust me on this count—she always liked me best without any clothes on. And you’ve got to play to your strengths when you’re fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I’m prepared to fight hard for her. Because sometimes you need a second chance at first love.

He’s the one who got away . . .
The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that at my job, showing off his rock-hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he’s not . . .? I’ve tried like hell to forget him, but maybe I’m cursed to remember the guy I fell madly in love with eight years ago. Lord knows I’m not over him, so what’s the harm in giving him a week to prove he’s changed in the ways that matter?

After all, how do you resist the hot one…

This was one – fast paced, sweet, gorgeous, wonderful, right up my alley – kind a book!!!

The Hot One by Lauren Blakely  was as wonderful as I had hoped for.

This book was all about second chances and owning up to past mistakes.

Delaney and Tyler were a couple in college, they loved each other madly and made plans for the future, until one day Tyler broke up with her out of the blue and left without a backward glance.

Years later they met again. The attraction was still as intense and all consuming as it ever was. And finding out that  they lived in the same city was like a flame to an haystack – both couldn’t stop thinking about each other.

Delany still held a grudge, and the pain of him breaking up with her was still buried deep. But Tyler was very sweet and groveled and apologized about his mistakes that he dearly regretted ever since. Ultimately she was the ONE.

Tyler was a wonderful character. He was the BEST uncle a child could have, an amazing kick-ass lawyer, successful, approachable, and just swoony.  And he honestly and genuinely regretted his actions in college and was working on rectifying it with wonderful and sweet gestures. He was committed 100% and hoped that Delany would give him a second chance.

Delany was a bit more cautious. Tyler really hurt her and just forgetting about what happened won’t work for her. She needed to be able to believe and rely on him to stay and not run again. She needed a commitment but also time to come to terms how she felt about Tyler being back in her life.

Her friends, Penny and Nicole were wonderful supporting characters, literally and figuratively. They supported her decisions and were there for her whenever she needed someone to lean on.

The Hot One was fast paced, funny, sweet and a quick read. I loved Tyler and Delany’s quick banter and how well they knew each other. They changed over the years, but not so much that they didn’t still know each other incredibly well. Their obvious connection made everything so much more believable.

I absolutely ENJOYED this book!!

I couldn’t have spent my Sunday morning with a better book.

THANK YOU Lauren Blakely!!!
