This is a story of love, loss, and second chances.
Ten years ago when Shane Maguire chose the Marines as his escape from some trouble of his own making, he only regretted one thing—leaving Sinclair Smith behind. Despite his best intentions, she ended up as the one that got away. Now he’s back, determined to reclaim everything he gave up, including Sinclair.
Sinclair is immune to Shane’s charms. She’s immune to stolen kisses behind the gym. And she’s definitely immune to that maneuver he did in the back seat of his car… Okay, maybe her hormones are susceptible, but she has absolutely no desire to risk anything on the bad boy who broke all his promises.
When a little emergency lands her at his mercy, he offers her a deal she can’t refuse. And this time, she’ll show Shane what it means to be left wanting…
As a huge fan of second chance romances, I knew I had to read this book.
Samanthe Beck has been a reliable source of sweet and sexy reads. Emergency Attraction was no exception.
I truly enjoyed this novel.
Shane and Sinclair had plenty of chemistry, history, and banter between them that ensured that I kept turning pages until the very end. I think one of the most endearing qualities Shane had was his dedication in pursuing Sinclair in giving him a second chance. He pulled out all the stops. And it definitely helped that their chemistry was as strong as ever.
Both main characters were easy to relate to. Shane, the bad boy that went to military boot camp and emerged stronger, more assured, and highly successful in an amazing career. Sinclair, strong, resilient, and successful in her own right. A jewelry designer and owner of an amazing barn conversion – I’m so jelly right there!!! I love barn conversions and my Pinterest boards can attest to that. 😀
The author has a talent of writing characters that pull me in, every single time. And especially her male characters are outstandingly romantic and self-assured. Her heroes are not afraid of showing feelings and devotion. I adore that!!
Another plus point was the simple yet captivating storyline.
The main focus was a ten years separation that wasn’t anyone’s fault – just life being life. And the way the author handled this disconnection worked perfectly for me. I didn’t feel ONCE as if something was missing or didn’t make sense.
Samanthe Beck’s books have always been light-hearted and an easy way for me to leave everyday life behind. This is what I’m ultimately looking for. And Samanthe Beck has never disappointed me in that.
