Bound by Flames is the third book in the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost.
I’m a little late to this party. But on the other hand, I only have to wait a few short month until the completion of this series.
Because of the gap between Book 3 and Book 2 I was surprised how easy it was for me to catch up with everyone. No confusion about who was who. I was immediately engrossed in the storyline.
This time Jeaniene Frost pushed the limits beyond my expectations. Leila’s strength and resilience was tested in the most brutal way. It gave me chills and went straight to the heart. But since the author wrote Leila as such a strong, and kick-ass female protagonist, she emerged stronger than ever before. Also still pretty young in vampire terms she was gradually coming into her powers. As a strong and confident woman Leila stood up to Vlad’s overpowering presence, and pushed back when necessary.
“Compromise Lesson One: Pull a dick move, and your dick gets denied. Every woman knew that, and now, so did the vampire sitting next to me.”
Of course Vlad, as barbaric and savage as he might be, when it came to Leila he was putty in her hands. He was still overprotective and domineering in his goal to protect Leila at all cost. A bit maniac when pushed to his limits and his commanding presence literarliy radiates off the pages. The narrator did an amazing job conveying that.
Neither character is perfect. Vlad is having a hard time not to control everything especially Leila. And Leila is trying to hold on to her identity and without being diminished by Vlad’s overwhelming personality and protectiveness. But they are progressing in their relationship. Evolving and fighting side by side as equals. A stubborn Leila and an even more so Vlad makes this book a very electric and combustible ride. Literally. Jeaniene Frost has woven a brilliant tale of good against evil. Fast paced and pulse-pounding it completely takes hold and doesn’t let go until the very last page.
A note about the narrator of the audiobook, she went above and beyond, she almost cried on tape, I was definitely sitting on the edge of my chair during some of the scenes.
