I popped my Claire Contreras cherry in the best possible way!! ❤️❤️

I absolutely loved Because You’re Mine! The characters are fantastic. The romance is kindle melting. And the storyline grabbed my attention and completely sucked me in.

Loren is shit hot and made me fall for him immediately. He’s sexy, commanding, and a bit of an enigma throughout the first half of the book. The attraction between him and Catalina is undeniable. I particularly enjoyed the way he acts around her. All gruff and growly barely contained power. But also gentle and protective. Gah! He is all the things!!

Aside from some ticky issues with the plot and minor continuity concerns this was a FANTASTIC read!! I absolutely cannot wait to read to so much more from this author!

This will be a short review.

Because You’re Mine was a solid performance by Claire Contreras.

A mobster falling in love with a mobster princess/ballerina – was totally intriguing to me!! I have a fondness for mafia romances and I loved that the author didn’t hold back, even though the story wasn’t overly bloody or violent, but the backstory certainly suggested it.

I really liked the premise and had no problem staying focused. The characters and story were captivating and an easy read on a hot summer day. It’s being marketed as a standalone, but honestly I would love to get Gio’s story, Catalina’s brother and big bad mobster himself.

Catalina and Lorenzo were opposites but also easily compatible. She grew up in the folds of the mafia, and he was one of the biggest and baddest out there. At first it’s all about revenge, but that soon turned into way more. Catalina and Lorenzo’s chemistry was explosive and reciprocal. I had no difficulty seeing them together. The air literally sizzled whenever they shared a room.

And it was fun to watch them come together.

At the end there was this climax that felt a bit rushed, and came out of the blue. It didn’t feel well thought through and too some extent took some of the enjoyment out of the story. But all in all, Because You’re Mine was a solid execution, and I would love to read about Gio next. He was such a volatile and brooding asshole – and sounds like he would be right up my alley.

Because You’re Mine – Claire Contreras

When you grow up in the most feared mafia family, it’s easy to identify the kind of men that are bad news.

They’re the ones with experience.

The ones with secrets.

The ones that exude sex just by saying your name.

From the moment I laid eyes on Lorenzo, I knew he wasn’t just bad news.

He was the headline.
But my head and my heart are at war.
He’s too mysterious, too gorgeous, too wild, and now, he wants me.
I should run far away. So why am I racing toward him?
I’m totally going to get burned. I know it. A man like Lorenzo won’t leave me unscathed.
He’ll make ashes of me.

  1. I am a fan of Claire Contreras’ writing. I downloaded this one, but haven’t read it yet. I’m excited because people are comparing it to her book There is No Light in Darkness. That’s my favorite of hers, so I’m hoping this one lives up to the hype for me. It sounds like you enjoyed it for the most part, so hopefully I will too! Great review!

    1. I definitely enjoyed it or I wouldn’t have finished it! And I’ll be checking out There is No Light in Darkness. I really like her writing .;-)

    1. I really like her writing! That helps a lot. And everything else was great, can’t complain except for that climax.🤷🏻‍♀️
