Genre: Contemporary Romance
I have one chance at a new life. A college education. A future outside of Tanglewood’s dark walls. For a breathless moment it seems like I might actually escape.
Then I get a phone call from home.
Damon Scott is my own personal dragon, the fight I’ve always lost, the secret hope of my heart. And he needs my help right now. Only my mind can solve the puzzle of his long-lost sister. Only my presence can keep him sane as the city fights against him.
Only my heart can unlock a man with such a tragic past.
This is my final gamble, with everything at stake. One last game to win a future for both of us.
And a love strong enough to break the city apart.
THE QUEEN is the final novel in the bestselling Masterpiece duet, about a game of lies and loyalty, of betrayal and power, and ascension to the city’s throne.
“We’re really just equations longing for that other half of us.”
Damon mother-fracking Scott!! Oh my. OH MY! His character was a larger than life force of nature in the previous series. He reeled me from our very first meeting, so I was beyond excited to dive into this duet.
“Benevolent. Capricious. Both a powerful leader and the disruptive force.”
I was beyond excited to dive into this duet and it certainly lived up to the promise!
Here’s the breakdown:
The Queen picks up years after the events of The Castle. Penny is a senior in college and attempts to live her live despite the shadow of Damon Scott looming over her. She still loves him regardless of their unconventional relationship. Damon has returned to Tanglewood and rule the city like a revered king. When trouble arises, Pennie must return to request his help.
What I loved:
The formula for this series of novels works very well. I enjoyed the writing and storyline immensely. The characters are detailed and complex. Their interrelations are most interesting. I loved how everything worked out in the end.
I enjoyed both main characters. They are perfect and have noticeable flaws, but it works for them. The shift in the relationship was the best thing ever! Oh my gah, that ending! Damon made me swoon.
I loved seeing Avery and Gabriel again. Catching up with their story and having them both play a pretty significant role in this story was important…very well done! Everything felt full circle.
I only had a few minor issues. The main one being that I was so OVER Damon’s father! LOL He was just too much for much me. But not a major detraction, obvi, since overall this is a winner!
