CORINA’S REVIEW

If you’re looking for a book about enemies to lovers stop right here!!

Anything You Can Do by R.S. Grey is about two characters Lucas Thatcher and Daisy Bell, who had been in competition one way or the other since they had been born 58 minutes apart.

They kept playing tricks and one-upping each other throughout their childhood and school life until they went to Med School. Daisy went to Duke, Lucas to Stanford. A continent between them kept the animosity buried until both decided to come back home to Hamilton, Texas and work for the only family practice in town.

And the competitive streak was back in full force.

Unbeknownst to Daisy, there was more than animosity on Lucas’s side. He fell in love with Daisy in high-school, but their usual competitiveness dealt it a death blow early on.

So, now years later, both thought about the other throughout the years, they were back.  This time working in such close proximity that the animosity turned into something more. After one fateful kiss, all bets were off. Suddenly a sexual tension was rearing its head and demanding its due.

Their kiss threw them off balance, and suddenly their status quo needed to be adjusted, and Lucas as well as Daisy were reeling from the possibilities.

R.S. Grey is, without a doubt, one of my favorite authors.

Her novel Scoring Wilder is by far one of my most favorite books of all time. I usually read it anytime I need a guaranteed hit. A pick-me-up after disappointments. A book that makes me feel GOOD!!

Unfortunately Anything You Can Do didn’t reach that level of AWESOMENESS.  I didn’t like how the characters treated each other  and thought their competitiveness as well as animosity went a bit too far. lI also had a hard time connecting with either characters, and on top of that my mind started to wander.

I do believe that the hilarity as well as the funny events and situations especially Daisy got herself into will work for other people, it just wasn’t the right novel for me.

ARC generously provided to me by author in exchange for an honest review.

BLURB

Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy.

It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I’ve changed since high school—and from the looks of it, so has he.

The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks. He is Lucas Thatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard.

I’m not worried; I’m a doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too easy—until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before: sexual warfare.

The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to surrender.

Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.
