All Kinds of Tied Down – Mary Calmes

I did something crazy this weekend.

Last week was kind of a funk for me. I couldn’t really get into any of my books, DNFed a couple and was just feeling lackluster. On Friday at work (which is never good) I started All Kinds of Tied Down and was immediately hooked. It was a library book that I had on my kindle for weeks, and it was close to expiring. But within 30 min of reading, I already went back and downloaded the entire series (4 books in all). I ended up reading them all in 2.5 days, while also binging on GOT. It’s hard to believe but I finished the last book on Sunday night, at 1am.

I don’t often have these kind of reading experiences, where everything just clicks for me, and I’m immersed in a series for days on end.

I’m not going to review each book, most of them were 4.5 stars, but the overall feel, the way I felt while reading this entire series deserves a 5 star.

At times I was grinning like a lunatic. The banter was so awesome that I couldn’t believe my eyes. Bromances are like chocolate – I can’t ever have enough and this series had amazing bromances and genuine friendships that brought a smile to my face. The main couple grew, compromised and built a lasting relationship within those pages. The federal cases, and the action blew my mind. It was like watching an action show at times. Just amazingly entertaining.

Honestly this series was like kindle crack for me. I couldn’t, wouldn’t put my kindle down. And now, having finished the Marshals series – I’m at a loss for words.

I might even say I’m experiencing a book hangover.

The books aren’t perfect but the feelings they invoked in me are what makes the perfect reading experience. I’m going to purchase the paperbacks ($15 each) just so I can have them on my shelf. That’s crazy right there – but it also pretty much describes my feelings for this series.

My thoughts:

So, if you love M/M, if you love great banter, bromances, friendships, action, relationships that grow over time, supporting characters that are the bomb, and love dogs – this series is a MUST read!!!!! I can’t stress it enough. Read it!!!

All Kinds of Tied Down – Mary Calmes

All Kinds of Tied Down - Mary CalmesDeputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they’ve gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back… faith and something more.

As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn’t working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home—and no one to come home to—is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn’t work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn’t being tied down at all.

Mary Calmes believes in romance, happily ever afters, and the faith it takes for her characters to get there. She bleeds coffee, thinks chocolate should be its own food group, and currently lives in Kentucky with a five-pound furry ninja that protects her from baby birds, spiders and the neighbor’s dogs. To stay up to date on her ponderings and pandemonium (as well as the adventures of the ninja) follow her on Twitter @MaryCalmes, connect with her on Facebook, and subscribe to her Mary’s Mob newsletter.
