Weekly Recap – My first recap!

Fall-

My first Sunday Post – yay!!!

So, my week has been turbulent – but that’s a story for itself. But besides a shitty week, I had the most amazing Monday. I finally met my blog partner Tijuana in person . It’s hard to believe that we’ve never met before but somehow decided we clicked enough after hours on the phone to take the next step. And it’s been FABULOUS so far!!!!

But besides all of the chatting we are doing on a daily basis, we never actually met in real life. Monday was the DAY!! Lot’s of excitement on both sides, but when we met it was like we’ve known each other for years. I love that woman. I squealed when I stepped out of the door and there she was. I think I even waved my arms in the air – like a kid in a candy store. It was EPIC!!!

On top of that we had a dinner date that neither of us could believe was really happening. Our favorite author LJ Shen agreed to meet us. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I’ve already met her at my first book signing in San Francisco last February, but those meetings last maybe 15 minutes tops. On Monday we spent hours with her chatting up a storm, and when we said goodbye it was like saying goodbye to a friend.

I won’t forget that night anytime soon!!!

That was by far the coolest day ever and made my shitty week not so shitty after all.

Nah, it was still shitty. 😀

I also found out this week that I’m officially behind on my Goodreads challenge – whine!!!! I hate being behind, but my new work schedule hasn’t allowed me much reading time, which makes me incredibly sad. Reading is the ONE thing that relaxes me.

I’m one unhappy camper. 🙁

Last week was a mix of review, promos and giveaways. We are still celebrating our monthly spotlight author LJ Shen – meeting her made this month the BEST spotlight month EVER – and we still have our latest giveaway open for participation.

TJ & Co BOOK REVIEW with GIVEAWAY – Ruckus (Sinners of Saint #2) by L.J. Shen

We also have a New Release giveaway if someone is interested in winning a book of their choice – here.

And we had ONE 5 star review – DIRTY FILTHY RICH LOVE by LAURELIN PAIGE

The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young

KING OF CODE by CD Reiss

Strong Signal (Cyberlove #1) by Megan Erickson, Santino Hassell

The Kingpin of Camelot (A Kinda Fairytale #3) by Cassandra Gannon

Misadventures of a City Girl (Misadventures, #1) by Meredith Wild, Chelle Bliss

I have worked my way up to 89% on Netgalley. I realized that the only way for me to keep it this way is to be VERY picky in selecting ARC’s. I need to be 100% sure that I’ll like the ARC’s and will read them asap.

One of my most anticipated novels of the year landed on my NetGalley shelf this week and I couldn’t be happier.

Heart on Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #3) by Amanda Bouchet

It was also my first foray into contacting publishing houses for ARC’s. I was super happy getting a reply in the first place, reading that I would get the ARC was incredible. Now finally having it on my kindle made me really feel like the blog is going somewhere.

It’s funny how getting acknowledged by publishers is turning out to be holy grail for me.

I love my 80% badge – I just wish it would be permanent.

I didn’t get many books this week.

From Kindle Unlimited

Wicked Ugly Bad (A Kinda Fairytale #1) by Cassandra Gannon

It was a slow week.

But I managed to finish rereading one of the most EPIC series ever – Captive Prince by  C.S. Pacat. While reading it the second time I realized how amazing this author really is. The complexity of the story, but especially the characters – mainly dear Laurent – had me glued to the pages. I was as enamored with this series as I was the first time – maybe even more so because I gave myself time. The first time reading it I hurried just because I was so excited and couldn’t wait to see how the series would finished. Now, I really savored and cherished every word. I’m in LOVE with Laurent and Damen!!!

We are gearing up for a FULL and EXCITING week.

We’ll be starting the week with an ARC giveaway of Scandalous by LJ Shen on the blog and follow that up with an author interview and GIFTCARD giveaway on Tuesday.

I’m a bit of a book slump right now. My reviews will be mostly about reread books like the Captive Prince series by C. S. Pacat and the latest JD ROBB book.

But I’m looking forward to getting two very highly anticipated books.

The Learning Hours (How to Date a Douchebag #3)  by Sara Ney

On a Tuesday by Whitney G.

  1. How cool is it that you and Tijuana finally met in person!! That NetGalley percentage can be tricky. I still have a book from last year on my shelf that I accidentally clicked. *hides*

    1. Angela – so tricky!!!! I’m always checking and making sure I’m not sliding under the 80 but it’s so much work. 😀 I also have one that has been sitting there for half a year – I’m actually waiting for it to come out on audio – I might sneak it in as an audiobook, it’s sometimes easier that way.

    1. Kristyna I almost fell of the chair – I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was rejected when I requested book 1 and 2 – which crushed me – so getting book 3 was AMAZING!!!!

  2. That is exciting you met your blog partner! This is my first time visiting your blog. Are you in the bay area?? I live in Sacramento but I grew up in the bay area.

Congrats on your Netgalley percentage! I’m at 79% and it keeps going down because I add more ARCs lol. But like you I am trying to be more selective on the ARCs I request.

I hope you have a better week!

    1. Hi Kathy, yes I’m in San Francisco we just need to meet up as well, neighbors and all.;-) Are you going to any author events in the future? I have the feeling California is underrepresented. It’s such a bummer!!! Getting to 89% was such hard work. I never even knew about the 80% until it was too late. And you are almost there with your 79% 😉
Let’s hope for a great week!!

  3. It’s so great that you two girls managed to meet! I’m truly happy for you.
And don’t worry about your Goodreads challenge. I had to adjust mine and I’m still slacking. I’m always counting on those two three times a year when I go on a bender and just binge read whatever’s on my kindle. That usually settles the balance.

  4. Totally exciting that you finally got to meet your blogging partner and it sounds like you had such a great time hanging out. Congratulations with the NetGalley % and all the best maintaining it at that.

    Have a fabulous week 🙂

    1. Thank you Diana, and It was totally exciting 😀 Funny how something small like meeting in person can be such a HUGE deal. And thanks for stopping by!!!

    1. Thank you so much Melliane!!!! This book – I think I waited for it since January. The author only releases a book a year, so it really was a BIG deal. 😀
