MUST READ LGTB – M/M Romances

M/M Romances

Ever since reading my very fist M/M romance by Sarina Bowen – The Understatement of the Year I was hooked. Since then I found some amazing books that should be on everyone’s reading list. This list is a Work In Progress. I’ll be adding to it as I come across outstanding and remarkable stories that I think other’s might like as well. I have read many more M/M novels over the years, but these here are the books that stood out because of originality, feelings or just because they were AMAZEBALLS!!

Happy reading!!

Him & Us (Him Seriesby Sarina BowenElle Kennedy

Goodreads Stats: 4.34  ·  18,622 Ratings  ·  2,781 Reviews

This series is one of the most romantic M/M romances I ever read. Jamie Canning and Ryan Wesley are perfection together. I love and adore them. Wesmie (Wesley and Jamie) are all hearts, and feels. They work. They make me swoon. And it’s a sports romance on top of it – yay!!!

The Understatement of the Year (The Ivy Years Series) by Sarina Bowen

Goodreads Stats: 4.17  ·  7,612 Ratings  ·  1,030 Reviews

The Understatement of the Year was my very FIRST M/M book I ever read. And honestly I couldn’t have chose a better one. It’s similar to Him & Us, a college sports romance, with two players that were best friends when they were young and lost contact because of life and circumstances. I fell in love with the authors writing right there and then and new I had to read more M/M centric novels. And I have never regretted it since.

Goodbye Paradise (Goodbye Seriesby Sarina Bowen

Goodreads Stats: 4.25  ·  3,166 Ratings  ·  649 Reviews · My Review

Another amazing M/M book by Sarina Bowen, very sweet and romantic. The premise is incredibly fascinating, since both characters escaped from a religious cult they grew up in. With such a background the novel delivered an emotional punch that I loved and devoured obsessively. It’s such an unique plot and the way it was written, Goodbye Paradise has become easily one of the most standout M/M stories available.

The LIKE US series by Krista RitchieBecca Ritchie

Goodreads Stats:  4.03  ·   4,136 Ratings  ·  782 Reviews   ·  My Reviews:  Damaged Like Us   ·  Lovers Like Us   ·  Alphas Like Us

I’ll come out right away and say that I’m bias in regards to this series. KB Ritchie have been favorite authors for years now, and this series is the second generation of my beloved Calloway Sisters Series so getting more is just the icing on the cake. BUT BOY – is this series GOOD!! Maybe even better than anything I ever read by them. It’s addicting, emotionally gripping and just amazing. It’s about the grown up kids and their bodyguards and I can only say those bodyguards are HOT!!! There are Pinterest boards for each character. The dedication the authors bring to the table is just admirable. I LOVE THEM!!!

Goodreads Stats:  3.95  ·   35,044 Ratings  ·  4,690 Reviews  ·   My review

Oh boy, here we go. I have TWO fandoms I’m obsessed with. The Captive Prince series and the Foxhole Court which will have it’s own paragraph further down this post. I want to crawl into this series and not come out. The feelings I’ve experienced because of Damen and Laurent are beyond anything I’ve ever known. There is just no comparison. This trilogy is a fantasy series, with a different society, and different rules. It’s fascinating, ground breaking, and so unique that it needs it’s own category. It’s the BEST!!

Carry On (Simon Snow Series) by Rainbow Rowell

Goodreads Stats: 4.21   ·  114,240 Ratings  ·  17,902 Reviews

I listened to the audiobook and immediately fell in lo e with the characters. Carry On is actually a fanfic come to live. In the author’s novel Fangirl the female character writes a fanfic, and Carry On is just that. It’s about wizards, magic, vampires, dragons, and a school of witchcraft. Adn most of all it’s about Simon and Baz his roommate that he thinks is a vampire. The story centers about the mystery of Simon being the Chosen One. But Simon and Baz’s relationship is what made me love this story. Their love is slow burn and SO swoony. The dialogues made me lol, and Baz was such an amazing character. I just found out that there will be a second book and honestly it can’t come soon enough.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda(Creekwood #1) by Becky Albertalli

Goodreads Stats: 4.34  ·  147,885 Ratings  ·  23,545 Reviews · My Review

Simon was absolutely sweet, fun and easy to read. From the very first sentence I was chuckling, smiling and just loving it. It’s everything you might have heard about and so much more. It’s a YA novel, with wonderful side characters, and a beautifully written story.

Autoboyography bChristina Lauren

Goodreads Stats: 4.38  ·   8,193 Ratings  ·  2,002 Reviews  · My Review

Autoboyography was my first book by Christina Lauren and it started an obsession as well as a streak of amazing books ever since. One thing should be mentioned from the very beginning, these authors research the hell out of their books. This book was amazing, and for a good part because it felt incredibly authentic and realistic. Beautifully, touching and emotional – it’s one of my favorite books of the year.

The Foxhole Court - Nora Sakavic

The Raven King - Nora Sakavic

The King's Men - Nora Sakavic

The Foxhole Court (All for the Game, #1) by Nora Sakavic

Goodreads Stats: 4.13  ·  16,347 Ratings  ·  2,297 Reviews  · My Review

The Foxhole Court series was a highlight of 2018. I heard about it but never picked it up, and now I don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier. I was obsessed with the cast the books after one reading half of book 1. The author is incredibly talented. Her made up sport feels and sounds extremely real, and I wish it existed. Extremely well written, with characters that are unique and have all very distinctive voices that make this trilogy a MUST read. The romance is SLOW BURN – and I truly mean it!!! It’s all about their relationship, the FoxHole Crew and the plot. But Andrew and Neil will always be my favorites.

Strong Signal (Cyberlove #1) by Megan Erickson

Goodreads Stats: 4.08  ·  5,234 Ratings  ·  1,065 Reviews  · My Review

There were many things I loved about Strong Signal. The authentic feel for once. I felt like the authors did a fantastic job in portraying the lifestyle in the gamer community and I loved how the two main characters were portrayed. They were essentially very opposites and I loved how well that came across. A very solid novel to start out with.

For Real (Spires Universe) by Alexis Hall

Goodreads Stats: 4.24  ·  3,391 Ratings  ·  818 Reviews

I found FOR REAL by going through the RITA winners once in search for new books/authors. Alexis Hall was a finalist and I definitely thought he deserved this award after reading For Real. Truly authentic, in voice and demeanor, For Real had everything I hoped from M/M written by a male author. It feels very different. The novel has an edge. I loved the tension and attraction that both felt. The feelings just hummed throughout the book. If you’ve never read any books by this author, this is a great one to start with.

Sixty Five Hours (Sixty Five Hours #1) by N.R. Walker

This book was all kinds of adorable. An office M/M romance is my kind of jam. LOVED IT!!! The banter, the tension, the forced cooperation and close quarters. With only 174 pages it was a quick and easy read but SO GOOD!!! I would love to read more about the two main characres, ad the author must have heard my wish, because she wrote a Christmas short story which was as adorable as the original. Easy, light and heartwarming this story should be on everyone’s M/M reading list!!

Wolfsong (Green Creek #1) by T.J. Klune

For many Wolfsong is one of the most popular M/M novels. And I must agree the hype is justified. The author is a fantastic storyteller, one of the best, and the way he spun this tale will always stay with you!! The nuances and feelings that went into this story makes it a MUST READ. Again it’s a slow burn romance. And if I may say so it’s so much more than just a M/M romance.

  1. I love reading M/M books, but I haven’t read any of those. Several are on my TBR.

I think my favourite M/M books will always be the Cut & Run saga by Abigail Roux.
The Unforgettable Duet by Brooke Blaine is also nice and the Out of Uniform series by Annabeth Albert is awesome.

    1. I have had Cut & Run on my kindle for a long time but it expired a couple times and I’ll just have to request it again from the library. I’ve send the books by Annabeth Albert but haven’t picked one up yet. And Brooke Blaine is a new to me author. 😊 adding them all to my tbr .

  2. Atleast half of this post feels like I’ve written it myself coz you’ve included so many of my favorites 😍😍😍😍
Sarina’s m/m romances are just wonderful… Wesmie is perfection!!! And Captive Prince blew my mind ❤️❤️❤️
Autoboyography, Simon and Carry On are definitely some of the cutest books ever 😃😃😃
Lovely post… I really should check out the Like Us series soon….

    1. I love it when so many books match, that usually means we have similar tastes. 😊 Do you have any favorites that are not on the list?

      1. It’s always fun to talk to someone who loves the same books 😊😊😊
I have a few more favorites… Love lessons trilogy by Heidi Cullinan… Scoring Chances series by Avon Gale is an awesome set of sports romances… some of Anyta Sunday’s books are cool… And my very recent favorite is the Confessions series by Ella Frank…

  3. I love your list Corina! And so many of your favorites are my favorites! I’m going to check out Damaged Like Us. it’s been on my to read for a long time but I haven’t picked it up yet.

    1. Thank you so much!!!! And I would love for you to read KB Ritchie 😍😍😍 they are one of my most favorite author duos.

            1. It’s all one family. You won’t know who the adults are, but honestly if I were you I wouldn’t 🤣 I jumped into the entire series by skipping the first couple entirely and I was fine. It’s an entire knee generation of people. I think you’ll be fine!

  4. I’m a huge M/M fan so I’ll be keeping an eye on this list. You should check out #Junkie, #Rev & #Blur (The GearShark series) by Cambria Hebert. Also, Strong Enough by Melanie Harlow & David Romanov is amazing! Loved Him & Us.
