 Fall-

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag!

I saw this tag at my fellow bloggers Rimpys Reads feed and loved it ( I pretty much blatantly copied her post). Thank you Rimpy for the inspiration! This tag goes over the books I’ve read so far in 2018, and highlights my favorites as well as the disappointments that are part of any bookworm’s life.

Let me know in the comment section if you’ve read any of the books I’ll be mentioning.

Questions

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018?

By far, the best book of 2018 was Look The Part by Jewel E Ann – I would have given it 6 stars if I could have – and that has never happened before.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2018?

Crooked Kingdom was a perfect sequel. As fascinating and thrilling as Six of Crows.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?

I’m pretty good with reading the new releases as soon as they are released. There aren’t any books I haven’t read that I really wanted to read. All of my highly anticipated books are checked off.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of 2018?

This is a no brainer – it’s Magic Triumphs by Ilona Andrews. It will be the conclusion of my most favorite series of all. I don’t really know how to go on after Kate Daniels is done. I’ll be in mourning for sure.

5. Biggest disappointment?

I had a few books that didn’t pan out even though I love the authors. Here are some of my DNF that hurt the most.

6. Biggest surprise?

Recovered by Jay Crownover. I didn’t want to read it because I wasn’t sure if it had a happy ending. It’s based on a RL relationship that didn’t make it. But then I ended up loving it – I was riveted and ended up loving the story and characters.

7. Favorite new author?

Karla SorensenMaya HughesLucy ScoreHelen HoangJewel E. Ann

8. Newest fictional crush?

I’m crushing bad on a new series I’m in the middle of. The All for the Game Series by Nora Sakavic – I’m OBSESSED with the cast. And the complex story keeps me flipping pages, I already don’t want it to end!!!

My favorite couple are Neil and Andrew.

9. Newest favourite character?

Neil and Andrew ^^ as in question 8

10. Book that made you cry?

I hate to cry, so I usually stay far away from books that come with a tissue warning.

11. Book that made you happy?

All three books made me happy in some way and were 5 stars reads for me.

12. Favourite book to movie adaptation you saw this year?

I have not watched Simon, Wonder of The Hate U Give – I would guess that any of these movie adaptations I would love.

13. Favourite review you’ve written this year?

This series has my heart and knowing that there are so many more to come makes me incredibly happy.

14. Most beautiful book you bought so far this year?

Even though I already bought a UK edition, when I saw this one available for purchase I didn’t hesitate at all. I love this cover and can’t wait for Vengful coming out with the matching cover.

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I have a couple series I would like to read this year.

Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1)  by Mark Lawrence

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo  by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1)  by S.A. Chakraborty

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

  1. I had to check out that Jewel E Ann book and it looks great! With your rec, and because its KU i got a copy. I wanted to recommend one to you. Have you read C.M. Owens Becoming a Vincent? It is hysterically funny and I really liked the characters. I think its on sale for .99 right now on Amazon…..

    1. Oh wow;-) I did not know about the author or the book, and I always love a good red. And 99 cents is hard to beat! I read Look The Part with KU, bought the paperback when I wasn’t even gone with the book and afterwards I ended up buying the ebook too 🙈🙈🙈 I hope you’ll enjoy it!!

    1. Emma Chase is unfortunately not a guaranteed hit with me. I love some of her books others were meh or I didn’t even read them. She is a hit and miss for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish it would be different!

  2. You definitley need to read The city of brass and The poppy war, both of them are just so delicious. As for Kate’s story ending, I just recently read Iron and magic, which was epic and dare I say even better than the Kate Daniels series. Hopefully, it is going to be a long series. 🙂

    1. OMG no way is it better????? OMG it’s my Sunday read! Nobody better interrupt me.;-) I have high hopes for both Poppy War and The City of Brass 🤞🏼 let’s hope they hold up 😁
