Weekly Recap – Catching up!

Hi everyone,

This is Corina with the Sunday Post. A recap of this week and …. ahem cough, cough, of last week as well.

September was a slow book month for me. I can’t really complain since my job doesn’t allow me to read as many books as I was able to read last year. So a less stressful month – book related – was strangely welcome. But with less interesting books for me being released I’ve struggled with reading slumps – yep I reached multiple reading slumps.

I joked with TJ that I’m cursed this month – again book related – I shouldn’t have said anything because now I jinxed myself. I’m discarding books left and right – and all I do is complain.

But on the other side there were some amazing books to enjoy this month….

Here is the wrap up.

Our September author of the month was LJ SHEN and she wrote one of my top favorites SCANDALOUS. This book gave me the much needed bookhangover and showed me that I can still be ECSTATIC about a book even in the middle of a book slump.

The second book that elated my black mood was THE LEARNING HOURS by Sara Ney. I was in book heaven right there and then. The Learning Hours was the third book in an amazing series, and she managed to turn our DOUCHEBAG world upside down with a twist that nobody saw coming – I LOVED IT!!

I also read LOGAN which put me through the most evil emotional wringer EVER!! That book had my heart aching by being tragically honest and raw. Jay Mclean has a certain way of keeping her books incredibly realistic and destroying me at the same time. I hate/love that woman.

I’m keeping steady on NetGalley this week. I added a few books but was able to read a few as well so my shelf kept itself balanced. Yesterday I got the email that I was approved for The Hazel Wood. I’m really excited about it – it took an eternity until I got approved. Since I’m not a regular YA reader it made sense for them to be hesitant. But YAY for me!!!

I’m also currently reading Dark Swan from my NetGalley shelf and will be diving into Promise Not to Tell right afterwards. It’s been a few years since I last read Gena Showalter and I hope I’ll enjoy her as much as I did then. Actually the same goes for Jayne Ann Krentz. I loved her older books, even though she had a formula, it was reassuring to know what I could expect. Nowadays I feel like her books are sometimes lacking the certain extra. Wish me luck!!

As I’m writing this I’m waiting for HIDEAWAY by PENELOPE DOUGLAS to hit my kindle – or not. 🙂 It’s always a guessing game. Maybe I’m lucky.

Yesterday night I received Sure Thing by Jana Aston and Wicked Envy by Sawyer Bennett – both books are highly coveted by me and I can’t wait to pick them up.

Tempt the Playboy by Natasha Madison also hit my kindle – which I’m super excited about – she’ll be our author of the month in October.

I also downloaded two books via KINDLE UNLIMTED –  both were recommendations.

Break Line Kindle Edition by Sarah E. Green

Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter

and I’m also debating on getting

Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield

So all in all my kindle is feeling pretty happy. And there might be a chance I’m getting out of my reading funk.:D

DON’T MISS this opportunity!!!!!!

We are giving away a SCANDALOUS SIGNED PAPERBACK copy and I want so badly to enter our own giveaway – that book was my EVERYTHING!! Including the awesome and totally likable cover. ♡♡♡♡♡♡

I’m having it bad!!!

Here is your chance – enter here!!!

Thank you so much for coming by!!

I appreciate every single one of you and I’m looking forward to next week.

    1. Stephanie, I only worked part-time last year, actually for the last 4 years, and now I’m working 55 hours. NO MORE TIME for anything.

  1. I LOVED Scandalous too. Oh I need to read The Learning Hours soon. I’ve suffered reading slumps so many times last month too, Corina even though I was surrounded by many books. I hope you have lots of awesome books this month. It’s the cure. We just need to find awesome books to boost up our energy. Hehe.

PS: glad that you finally join Sunday Post!! 😁❤️❤️

    1. Hi, I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing reading slumps. I hate them!!!! The Learning Hours definitely was a book that would have gotten me out of any of my funks. And Sunday Post rocks!!!! Thanks for the idea.:D
