Gifts (The Killers #3) – Brynne Asher – 5 stars for a perfectly crafted romance about an alpha-assassin single dad and a vineyard and pet cow owning single mom.
Book Review: Gifts
by Brynne Asher
A warning right here – I’m going to GUSH!!!!
This was my first book by Brynne Asher and it ROCKED!!! OMG – I was hooked, enchanted, and in LOVE. I don’t know how I could have missed this author but I’m so glad I found her while reading a fellow bloggers review.
This book had EVERYTHING I love about a great romance.
A dose of Kristen Ashley.
This is a HUGE compliment when I say that Gifts gave me the KA feel. Brynne Asher wrote two AMAZING characters that had me glued to the pages, and I didn’t want the book to end. That’s an amazing feeling right there.
I was head over heels in love with Asa. He was in charge, protective, deliciously alpha, but also extremely kind and loving. Honestly, there isn’t a guy out there that could be more perfect than him – in a non-perfect way if that makes any sense.
Because who really wants a guy that is perfect, right?
Asa was the perfect mix of flawed, stubborn, demanding and controlling. After so many years of doing his thing, working for the government in all sorts of ways that weren’t kosher, settling down was only half of his daily struggle. He suddenly had to take care of his two teenage kids that weren’t as placid as he would have liked it. But I was surprised how well he did. He tried his best, and put real effort into rebuilding relationships and trust between himself and his children – and it showed!!I don’t know why but ‘single dads’ do it for me. And the way he treaded Keelie’s kids was just the icing on the cake.
Hot and sexy
The chemistry between Asa and Keelie was HOOOOOTTT!!! Brynne Asher found this perfect balance of a thrilling arc and a good amount of sexy times that didn’t take away from the story nor did it become redundant. Their sexual attraction was palpable, moreover the couple couldn’t’ have been more perfectly matched.
Keelie’s sassy and stubborn personality (but never so stubborn that she got herself into danger because of it), and Asa’s fondness of said sassy and stubborn woman made me so HAPPY!!! It was a true pleasure reading this book.
The author is truly talented!!!
This book was close to perfection. It had one captivating and thrilling plot, more than one arc which the author handled splendidly, characters that were spectacular, superb dialogues, and a wonderful writing style. I truly couldn’t have been happier.
So, if you like the sound of all of it, don’t wait, start reading now!!
No one would say Keelie Lockhart isn’t determined. Taking on the role of both mom and dad to her two young kids, she’s managing life the best she can. Saddled with a century-old dilapidated farmhouse she can’t afford, a bevy of goats, two dogs, and a geriatric donkey, the last thing she has time for is a man—even if that man is a knight whose shining armor comes in the form of worn-in jeans and work boots.
Controlled, methodical, and focused—Asa Hollingsworth takes charge of everything in life. Working close to home after years away, he finally has the time to focus on his kids. Little does he know, a chance meeting with a petite, strawberry-blonde stranded on the side of the road, would intertwine their lives in a way he’d never want to untangle.
But when school bullies turn into something much worse, Asa starts to dig around. He never dreams the troubles lurking in the hallways of the local high school would shake his family to its core. With drug dealers lurking, bullets flying, and threats coming from every angle, Asa must do everything he can to protect the ones he loves.
Because in the end, there’s nothing more precious than the gift of life.
Warning: Oh, I’m sorry, that’s a fake ID. If you’re not eighteen, consider yourself bounced and walk away from my books. I’ll gladly welcome you back when you become a legit adult. That is, unless you’re my parents or my children. If so, walk away and don’t come back. You don’t need to know what’s in my head.
