You’ve seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!
We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.
But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother’s best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.
Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all.
The chemistry was amazing.
The laughs were incredible.
I opened up to him in more ways than I’d opened up to anyone before.
But sex was as far as I’d go.
Just sex because he was too irresistible.
Just sex because I wouldn’t be falling for him.
Just sex because I’d leave in three months, and I’d like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret.
He wasn’t the One.
He was just a womanizer.
But for a time, he would be mine.
This is going to be one GLOWING review, I just can’t help myself.
I don’t give 5 stars lightly but Womanizer was stunningly perfect in it’s execution. Katy Evans delivered one perfectly crafted story. I was SMILING throughout the entire length of the book. Reading this book made me insanly HAPPY.
Callan Carmichael & Olivia Roth made my heart melt.
Womanizer had a touch of the forbidden. Olivia Roth, younger sister of Tahoe Roth from Ladies Man (Manwhore #3) started an internship at Callan Carmichael’s Chicago firm. It didn’t sit well with her that the internship was a favor between her brother and Callan. So for her to excel on her own merit was top priority. She also had an entire plan for her future. Having her own company by 28 was on the very top. Getting the most out of this internship was the highest priority, getting involved with her boss’s boss was not. Of course plans were there to be broken.
Oliva and Callen met without knowing who the other person was. They shared some smokes and talked, just a guy and a girl. No pretentious chit chat, just two people that felt a mutual attraction. One meeting turned into two, three, until a seductive evening at a bar ended in a passionate night in bed.
Of course sooner or later their identity was lifted and both had to decide if they wanted to pursue what they felt for each other or keep their acquaintance entirely professional. Working together, spending time outside of work, and just meeting and talking over a smoke brought them closer each day.
They had this insane connection. It wasn’t all about sex. They definitely had sexy times, but it was more about their growing friendship.
Callen had such doubts about himself. A relationship, a possible future with a woman was such a foreign concept for him.
“I don’t know that I can love someone that deeply,” he says. He frowns as if remembering something, and he glances at his glass and strokes his thumb around the rim. “I’m not built that way.”
It wasn’t easy for him to take the next step. To be more than a regular hook-up. And Olivia already heard too many stories about his womanizing days to not have doubts herself.
He surveys me in silence, voice low. “Will you be home later tonight?” “Yes, but not for you.” “I’d like to talk.” “Talk to the tart you’re with.” “That tart is a good friend of mine and heiress to the Darhausen Wine dynasty.” “There are tarts in every tier of life. Yours happens to be wearing real diamonds, though not much else. She’s practically naked in someone’s living room.” “It’s my living room. And I know naked, and that’s not it,”
The air literally sizzled around them. Both didn’t know what to do with the intense attraction that they felt.
“So this . . . this attraction between us. We can make it go away, right?” He laughs.
Nothing made it go away. It just grew, and grew.
There were so many sweet moments in Womanizer, Callan Bad Boy Carmichael was utterly charming, and swoon-worthy. He was typically in such control when it came to his business, and love-life. But from the moment he met Olivia it all unraveled.
Before I finish that thought, he reaches out his hand, palm up, silently asking me to hold it. Callan Carmichael wants to hold my hand. ………. He clenches his jaw when I don’t immediately take his hand, and then he wiggles his fingers at me and edges his hand closer. I laugh and he chuckles. I give in and hold his hand.
Suddenly he wanted EVERYTHING. Everything that was missing from his life. Someone to come home to. Someone to wake up with. Someone to cook with. He had so much ambition and relentlessness in him. Work was all he ever cared about. But Olivia started a change in him that he never saw coming. Surprisingly some changes came very natural to him.
“Come here. I’ll let you be the little spoon tonight.” “You been the big spoon often?” I ask groggily. “Not really but you’re so tiny, I could fit in a couple of you right here. Scoot over.”
And at the end, when it all came down to what was at stake, Callan really just went with his guts.
He stares into my eyes. “I want to make it clear I have no shame when it comes to you. No rules I won’t break for you. Something about you gets to me like nothing ever has. I say the word woman, I think of you. Female, I think of you. Sexy, I think of you. Sweet, I think of you.” “God. Don’t be sweet to me. It will just make it harder to leave.” “You want hard? Last night was hard.” He looks at me—and I realize he doesn’t like our situation. He’s not the kind of man to be anyone’s dirty little secret. He’s the kind of man you flaunt. And apparently, I’m the kind of girl he’d come clean for.
I LOVED this book. Olivia and Callan were THE perfect couple. They had the most perfect chemistry. They were perfect for each other. The entire story was perfectly balanced. I know I’m using too many “perfects”. I just can’t help myself.:-)
It will go onto my keeper shelf, and it’s definitely a reread kind of story.
All in all there was nothing overly dramatic or eye rolling happening in Womanizer. It was an easy and completely entertaining book. Which I will RECOMMEND to anyone who wants to read a story that makes you smile and giggle.
I should also mention that I loved how friends, and family stayed mostly out of Olivia and Callan’s relationship, it allowed both main characters to make up their own mind about each other, without being influenced by other opinions.
It was a pleasure to read this ARC. And I’m more than grateful for this generously provided copy in exchange for an honest review.
