Julie James has NEVER disappointed me. Her novels have always been entertaining, and well crafted. In addition, her heroes are swoony, protective, and HOT!
My favorite book of hers is still book 1 Something About You, but all the others books in this series have always been one-click buys – and I never regretted it.
She is definitely an author I TRUST!!
And if you are a fan of enemies-to-lovers like I am – you’ll adore The Thing About Love.
Jessica Harlow and John Shepherd started out on the wrong foot when they met at the first day of FBI training. She was one of the only women in the group, petite and blond and he was the big, confident, ex Army ranger that stood out among all of them. It didn’t take long until their animosity turned into a fiery competition.
Years later they met again. Both successful in their own field. Jessica moved after her recent divorce back to Chicago and ended up being partnered with John. John on the other hand was on his way out of Chicago, he had plans of being part of a special task force, and wasn’t amused or looking forward to working with Jessica. But as life has it, not everything goes as planned.
The Thing About Love was a wonderful slow burn kind of romance. It was passionate and tender, funny and poignant. It had everything I want in a great love story.
Wonderfully complex and distinctive characters. A strong female heroine with a straight forward personality. A hot, alpha ex ranger – protective, but also sensitive and vulnerable.
The plot was well thought through and in typical Julie James fashion as entertaining as expected.
I love her FBI series.
This time, I liked it even more, because both characters were FBI agents. Jessica and John both knew what the job entailed, they were on even ground. They understood each other, supported each others decisions and ambitions. In the end they were PERFECT for each other.
As I said, Julie James books have been on my tbr list for years now, and I’m always looking forward reading her books.
