Meet the Author:

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

BOOK REVIEW

The Darkest Sunrise
(The Darkest Sunrise #1)

Expected publication: July 13th 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

BLURB

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.
“You’re pregnant.”
“It’s a boy.”
“Your son needs a heart transplant.”
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Lies.
Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.
Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.
“He’s gone.”
For ten years, the darkness consumed me.
In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

TIJUANA’S REVIEW

The Darkest Sunrise was meticulously planned and brilliantly executed. The characters and constructs are brilliantly rendered. It’s quite possibly the best book I’ve read all year! In a word – Amazing!

Aly Martinez is like a puppet master who pulls all my emotional strings. I feel so deeply for these characters. Raw, aching emotions spilled out against my will. I’m in tears writing this review. Prepare yourselves folks! Stock up on Kleenex, wine, and have a quiet place to read because you won’t be able to put this one down until the last page is done!

Here’s what I absolutely loved:

Well, I pretty much loved this one cover to cover. However, a few things did stand out.
There storyline and writing are beyond fantastic! I was immediately sucked in and didn’t come up for air until I was finished. I was so focused I didn’t put my kindle down one time! I’m talking about cooking dinner one-handed, bumping into walls looking at the kindle, unable to listen to conversations in the room kind of focus!!

The characters are brilliantly broken. They’re marred by grief and tragedy. I fed off the dramatics like a fiend! The character’s experiences are heart-breaking and poignant. I was so moved. This is the type of book that stays with you for years to come.

The love story was probably the biggest highlight for me. It’s one of the most beautifully tragic stories I’ve ever read. The characters complement each other so well. Their individual traumas bring them closer. Through those experiences a type of unparalleled love develops. I adore how devoted to the relationship each of them became over a short span of time.

Plain and simple, this is a masterpiece! If you don’t read another book this year, READ THIS BOOK!

CORINA’S REVIEW

THIS BOOK!!!!!!!

STUNNING. MASTERPIECE. RAW. UNPUTDOWNABLE

You should know by now that I DO NOT give out 5 star reviews willy–nilly. Not even to my favorite authors. My 5 star reviews have to earn a spot on the keeper shelf. Either because I want to re-read them again OR because they are so unique and so masterfully crafted that they dig deep into my heart and STAY!!!

The Darkest Sunrise did just that.

First, I should mention that I have not read a novel this well crafted in a long time. Reading The Darkest Sunrise felt to me as if everything, literally EVERYTHING, scene, chapter, and twist was plotted to the very last detail. The flow of the story was incredible, like music it entranced, and pulled me in. Every twist and character development was extraordinarily well thought through.

This story was more than just complex. It was the motherland of complexity. I’m still in awe!!!! I can’t wrap my mind around how the author was able to craft such a layered story in such a way that I didn’t feel like saying “huh”. Not ONCE in the entire book did my mind stray. The authors eloquent writing was addicting, beautiful, and touching. The banter between the couple was hilarious, emotional, and heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

Most of all Charlotte and Porter stole my heart. Whenever those two were together I smiled a bit more. Swooned. But also ached for them. It was quite emotional.

The feelings in this book were overwhelmingly raw. They went deep and were all consuming. I’m still talking about this book the day after. And I had to talk to TJ just to get it of my chest. There was sooooo much going on inside of me. I really needed someone to listen to me swoon.

Hands down this book was a masterpiece. M A S T E R P I E C E !!!!!

And even though I didn’t need Kleenex, many people did, it was nevertheless gutting. And awesome! And beautiful! Sigh!

The Darkest Sunrise will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading this book. And I can only recommend: Read. Both. Books. At. Once!!!! You’ll thank me!
