Book Review – LOVER by Marni Mann & Gia Riley

Meet the Authors:

Best-selling Author Marni Mann knew she was going to be a writer since middle school. While other girls her age were daydreaming about teenage pop stars, Mann was fantasizing about penning her first novel. She crafts sexy, titillating stories that weave together her love of darkness, mystery, passion, and human emotion. A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida with her husband and their two dogs who subsequently have been characters in her books. When she’s not nose deep in her laptop working on her next novel, she’s scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling to new locations, and devouring fabulous books.

Author Gia Riley has been in love with writing romance since high school when she took her very first creative writing class. From the small but mighty state of Delaware, she’s a country girl at heart, traveling back to her roots in Pennsylvania as often as she can.

While New Adult and Contemporary romance have been her passion, she’s dabbled with more erotic plotlines lately, enjoying discovering the sexier side of love with each story she pens. After all, she’s a lover of all things romance – a firm believer that everyone deserves their
happily ever after no matter what it takes to get there.

When she’s not writing, you can find her roaming the aisles of Kirkland’s, up to her elbows in Play-doh, or trying to hunt down spoilers for her favorite reality television show.

BLURB

The attraction was undeniable.
I couldn’t escape him.
I didn’t want to.
I was his.
He was mine.
But he wasn’t my husband.

My once treasured marriage was now flawed and imperfect.
By the time the guilt set in, it was too late.
Reality was trying to keep me away from my obsession.
My husband was that reality.
My obsession was West.

But West was forbidden. Taken. Married.
We were swingers.
It was the perfect arrangement.

Until I fell in love…
With West.

MY REVIEW

OMG!!!!

I pretty much jumped into this book without knowing anything about the authors, their writing style or what the book would be about, all I knew was that the two couples were swingers!!!! Call me intrigued!!

Shout out to the authors – this book was AMAZING!!! I was stoked to find authors that colored outside the lines. This is what I NEED more often, books that rattle the cages and authors not afraid to write something a bit more controversial. I adore writers that are more open to different lifestyles, vanilla sex or BDSM might not always be the solution to a HEA.

Intrigued by the setting, and utterly enchanted by the characters, I was immediately consumed by this emotional and electrifying novel. Long story short, I fell in love with West and Piper.

The premise alone was thrilling and captivating. It took me a few chapters to really get into the book, but then I went WOW!! I started messaging my blogger bestie TJ how much I loved this book, not long after I started tweeting. I knew it would be a long night before I could put this book away. LOVER had me all exited, and invested in no time.

I loved the plot – just adored it!!!

And West was such a swoony example of a dirty talking, rough and overwhelmingly sexual guy. He was not shy telling Piper exactly what he wanted from her. And in retrospect he gave her exactly what she needed. West was possessive, protective, territorial and incredibly devoted. He was PERFECTION!!! Really, he couldn’t have been any more perfect. West checked ALL of my boxes of hotness and how a alpha should treat his woman.

And Piper was a darling. Sweet, caring, devoted to her man, and the most kindhearted person imaginable. I truly liked her. She was strong when needed, but also very pleasing, and this came across as genuine and authentic. Not once did I feel like she wasn’t bone deep honest about her desires. And that made her perfect for West.

I really adored the last quarter of the book. The author gave us a glimpse of their life together. How often do I fell like the story ended too quickly. Or I wished for an epilogue or something MORE. That was not the case with LOVER. Marni Mann & Gia Riley did a FABULOUS job of writing a perfectly thought through novel with a beautiful ending. There was NOTHING I would have changed. BRAVO!!
