Book Review – If You Were Mine by Melanie Harlow

This was one of the most heart-warming and ROMANTIC books I’ve read in a long time!

BLURB

Theo MacLeod wasn’t supposed to be the one.

Tall, dark and handsome suits me just fine, but the cocky grin, know-it-all attitude, and mammoth ego? No thanks. I only hired him so I wouldn’t have to sit at the singles table again. It was just pretend.

He wasn’t supposed to kiss me.

My heart wasn’t supposed to pound.

We weren’t supposed to spend the night together—the hottest night of my life.

One night turns into a snowed-in weekend away, and even the blizzard of the century can’t cool the fire between us. I can’t get enough—of his smile, of his body, of the way he makes me feel.

We’re nothing alike. He’s a daredevil, and I’m a nervous Nellie. He’s a drifter, and I want to put down roots. He’s an opportunist with a checkered past, and I’m a Girl Scout volunteer.

But none of it matters when I’m in his arms.

I know he’s made mistakes. I know his wounds are deep, and he doesn’t trust easily. I know he doesn’t believe he could ever be enough to make me happy, but he could.

All he has to do is stay.

MY REVIEW

What a beautiful and sweet story!

Claire needed a pretend boyfriend as her plus ONE to attend a wedding. Since she already told everyone who asked her about her tall and handsome boyfriend, all because she didn’t want to sit on the singles table, she was in dire need of a boyfriend!! Good thing she came across a site called Hotties4Hire.com.

Theo, a drifter, bad boy, and just one gorgeous hunk of a man came to the rescue.

The attraction was immediate and mutual and both felt an intense urge to take it a step further. Unfortunately Theo wasn’t yet in the right mindset for a relationship, mostly because of his upbringing and him not felling worthy of Claire. Because of that, he took the flight instead of fight approach and left Claire even so it hurt him as much as it did her.

I absolutely understood where he was coming from, I just don’t know if I would have been as patient with him as Claire was.

If You Were Mine was wonderfully sweet, and sexy. Claire and Theo had intense chemistry and fit perfectly together. Claire was the least judgmental person imaginable. She took Theo exactly the way he was, loved him and gave him a reason to believe in love, and a happily ever after for himself. He just had to shut of his brain and instead follow his heart.

I truly enjoyed If You Were Mine by Melanie Harlow. It was a perfect read for a lazy Saturday afternoon.
