Book Review – Ain’t He Precious? (Sex and Sweet Tea) by Juliette Poe

AWWWW, this was such a good book!!

Welcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one-and-only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Kindle Edition, 84 pages
Expected publication: April 11th 2017 by Big Dog Books

I came home yesterday and was EXHAUSTED. Drained, tired and couldn’t wait to put comfy clothes on, curl up with my kindle and leave it all behind me.

And I couldn’t have chosen a better book.

Ain’t He Precious? (Sex and Sweet Tea) by Juliette Poe was exactly what I needed.

First off I LOVE NOVELLAS!!!!

I can finish them usually without worrying about getting up the next morning. From start to finish in one sitting – PERFECT!

On top of that Ain’t He Precious? was absolutely ADORABLE and PRECIOUS!

It had the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. Awesome characters, a beautiful fleshed out plot, and it was located in a wonderful little southern town that I couldn’t get enough of. I already know that there is so much more to come. 😀

Trixie Mancinkus and Ryland Powers were a couple in law school. They were in love and already planned their future together until Trixie had second thoughts. She moved back to her hometown to be the town’s one and only lawyer and to be closer to her family. Ry moved to Boston to work for the firm that they had planned for all along.

11 years later, when Trixie asked him to assist in a tricky case, he dropped everything and drove to North Carolina.

Meeting after so many years was like a homecoming for both of them. Trixie and Ry realized what they had so many years ago, what was lost, and what was most important in live. The attraction, banter, and feelings between Ry and Trixie was as strong as ever.

I loved Grandpa Mancinkus ♥♥ and his meddling ways are far from over 😀

I loved the entire Mancinkus family. Southern hospitality, fishing at night, shooting snakes, drinking moonshine – I had a blast reading this book. And I’m so HAPPY to know that there is so much more to tell about this family.

Ain’t He Precious? was an easy and light-hearted read. Fast paced without loosing plot or sacrificing character depths. The bond between the main characters was tangible and genuine.

Ain’t He Precious? was beautiful, emotional and sweet – this book couldn’t have been any better!

It’s one of those feel-good romances, afterwards I felt all glowy and gooey inside.

Well done Juliette Poe

I’ll be reading more of you in the future!!!

  1. That cover is so welcoming! Stories with characters when they are students and then meeting up a decade later sounds like an interesting read. That’s definitely a great way to relax after a tiring day 😊 Excellent review!

    1. Thank you Jasmine, I agree wholeheartedly! It was such a feel-good story. Not a lot of drama, just two people who loved each other in college and still had deep feelings after so many years. They deserved their HEA;-)
